We asked Tarantino to choose favorite scenes from his own films.

“A very exciting experience,” the 46-year-old director shines. – I’ve never done this before, and now – I just sat down and wrote out all my favorite things. Scored 21 scenes! So I had to throw too much. In short, here is my magnificent ten: the strongest survived! ”

Tarantino fulfilled our request, but with a reservation.

“I know it’s worth saying that I like this and that, as you immediately ask why,” he says. – Let’s agree: no “why.” Because it’s oh … but, that’s why! I will not make out my films – they must speak for themselves. ” Having said that, he smirks and proceeds: “Well. Ten scenes that I am most proud of … ”

It was a pleasure to shoot this scene. I discussed it with John (Travolta), and he said: “You see, Quentin … I participated in the competition for the best twist when I was 12 years old, and the problem is that at some point it becomes boring.” John is a 60s dance expert. He showed me everything that he could, and then this was what happened: we started shooting, they danced a twist, and I just said what movement should go next. Type: “Now Swimming! Now batman! Now Hali-Gali! Now hitchhiking! ”

The Sicilian Scene from True Love (1993)

True Love True Love (1993)
True romance
action, drama, romance, thriller
Director: Tony Scott
Cast: Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman
Before the opening scene of Inglourious Basterds, this was undoubtedly the best scene I had ever devised. Tony Scott brought me to the editing room and showed this episode separately from the others, he was so proud of him. Tony knew that I would be thrilled. And the scene was really amazing. It was shot almost exactly as I wrote it. Christopher Walken, who delivers most of the cues, has learned the role of notches. I did not believe my ears! I could not believe that Christopher Walken so carefully reproduced every word I wrote! I was just stunned.

“Landa and LaPadit” from “Inglourious Basterds” (2009)

From this scene, I started writing the script for The Bastards. It was in 1997, and when I finished it, I knew that I had finally surpassed the dialogue between Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper. Ten years passed, sometimes I wanted to send this script away, then I told myself: well, no, I’ll shoot this film! In the first draft versions of the script, Landa did not live to the end. The adult Shosanne destroyed all the Nazis, and the first one she killed was Landa. There was also a long scene of a car chase. Very cool! In 2008, I returned to the script and rewrote it. It was then that I realized that Landa should stay alive.

Ordell and Beaumont from Jackie Brown (1997)

I’m talking about all their dialogue at the trunk, ending with Ordell killing Beaumont. In the novel, Ordell simply tells Beaumont to climb into the trunk, and he obeys. They do not argue, nothing of the sort, and in a minute Ordell shoots him. When the author of the novel Elmore Leonard read the script, he was indignant: “What the hell are you so blown up this scene with Beaumont ?! 20 pages, damn it! ”Sam Jackson and Chris Tucker are impeccable … A very funny episode.

Gogo Yubari v. Bride from Kill Bill. Movie 1 “(2003)

“Kill Bill” is my most ambitious project, and this scene is the most cinematic of all I have shot. It is made like a Japanese anime, in fact I shot an anime with live actors. I did not see either before or after that someone would do such a thing. In addition, as cool as, in my opinion, this scene was shot.

“The Bride vs. 88 Furious” from “Kill Bill. Movie 1 “(2003)

Kill Bill. Movie 2 Kill Bill. Movie 2 (2004)

On the set of “Kill Bill,” the scene at the Blue Leaf House was shot the longest. About eight weeks passed from the moment we entered the House of Blue Leaves, and this was on the third day of filming, until the moment we finished.
